I’ve been the recipient of some of this advice myself, and some of it I hold in deep gratitude since it was just the right thing at the right time in my career when I needed a nudge perhaps or someone to help me stiffen my spine. But I’ve also watched people use up all their savings and go down in flames by putting too much trust in do what you love and the money will follow. More recent research, cited by Adam Grant of the Wharton school, shows that some of the great entrepreneurs kept their day jobs until they were very well established in their new passion for example and that it probably helped them to be more creative because it relieves them of financial stress.
